Government shutdown could be an 'irritant' for Fed: Strategist▼

<p>A government shutdown is looking increasingly likely. One of the things a shutdown could impact is the release of economic data. AGF Investments Chief U.S. Strategist Greg Valliere says that given how data dependent the Federal Reserve is, a shutdown could prove to be an "irritant" for the central bank, adding that it would be "a great annoyance" to the Fed if it were unable to get the September jobs or CPI reports. The Bulwark Editor-at-Large Bill Kristol points out that "these are real government programs that are going to stop," citing the impacts to aid programs for women and children and national parks. Kristol also says that blame for a shutdown would be on Republicans, "Biden, the Democratic majority in the Senate, they have done nothing to provoke this."</p> Source
