The Miss America Pageant is a competition which awards scholarships for college and graduate school to American women between the ages of 17 to 24. Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours. She tours the nation promoting her particular platform of interest. The current title-holder, Miss America 2015, is Kira Kazantsev of New York. She was crowned on September 14, 2014, at the 88th pageant by her predecessor, Nina Davuluri, Miss America 2014, making her the third consecutive Miss America winner from New York.
